**I’m in Mexico with the 8th graders next week. If you finish your homework, turn it in! You can always turn things in early.
The AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) is hosting a conference at the San Francisco Hilton. Thousands of researchers and policymakers from 60 different countries will gather to hear their colleagues present their latest research and progress. Climate change will be the main topic, but scientists also discuss controversies over teaching evolution, nuclear power, exploration and habitability of Mars, and much more.
There are a number of free public events and lectures. One of the most exciting events will last all weekend! Family Science Days will be on Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 5pm. Events will include lab demos, stage shows, lesson on mkaing robots, yo-yo science (which you just learned about!), and interactive experiments from the Exploratorium.
I’ll be attending a public town-hall meeting on climate change which will involve other teachers, students, policymakers, and the general public. Experts will discuss the evidence and offer steps for both individuals and the government to help solve the problem of global warming and climate change.

This site has some fun easy online games and activities. It doesn’t really focus on kinetic energy, but it teaches about the human body, evolution, chemistry, physics, etc.
