More cool global warming sites!

Filed under: Climate change — tifftai @ 6:49 pm

Here are some links from a fellow blogger….

Global Cool “Over the next 10 years the solutions based campaign of Global Cool will be launching a series of educational and entertaining programmes, and inspirational and upbeat global events, aimed at empowering individuals to make a difference.”  Check out the rock stars who endorse Global Cool in the Cool Tube section.  Also, look at list of simple things you can do in the “Be Cool” section.

Try the Global Warming quiz!

We’ll be checking out a carbon footprint calculator in class soon.  It asks for a lot of information that your family members can help you with since you guys don’t tend to be in charge of paying bills and driving the car.  If you would like to do it with your family, here’s the website:  Lifecycle Climate Footprint calculator

The Inconvenient Truth

Filed under: Climate change — tifftai @ 7:01 pm

Sorry I’ve been a bit absent with posting to the blog…..

Inconvenient Truth poster

So, recently we watched an Inconvenient Truth.

Here were some of the comments and thoughts from students:

“I thought the film was educational and interesting. Al Gore did a nice job of explaining the facts.”

“It’s really scary what’s happening to our world.”

“It made me think about our morals. Why won’t we do anything to save our world?”

“Wow. Intense.”

“I agree that it [global warming] is not a political issue. I think that everybody should see this film even if they think that their religion is against it.”

“What can we do?”

“I was really inspired by this film.”

It seems like most kids enjoyed the film and even those who had seen it before, learned more the 2nd time around. If you want to check out more information, see the website at: http://www.climatecrisis.net/

The next phase to turn in is the Rough Draft of your project.

On the initial timeline, the due dates for the Rough Draft was during Spring Break  My bad… so the new due dates will be the week BEFORE Spring break.  This will give me time for thorough feedback of your work.  Remember that the MORE you write, the MORE feedback I can give you before the final draft on your display board.
